Subway (Marshes SC) In House Ice Hockey League.
Under 12s:
Saturday was a rest day for the under 12 Ice Hockey players,
although they continued with their training. A lot of the team were
very excited about the A Team game that night against the Latvian Hawks,
because the Dundalk Bulls were going to be presented with the League Trophy.
The under 12s were getting ready to celebrate and cheer on their
heros, which they did very well that night.
Under 16s:
However the Bulls celebrations, which continued into the
wee hours of Sunday morning, did not stop our dedicated under 16s players
arriving at the Ice Dome at 9am to play out the next games in
their in house league.
The Maple Leafs were up first against the Red Wings and
although there was some very spirted play from the Wings,
unfortunately they were at the wrong end of a 7 - nil score.
This result sees the Maple Leafs 2nd in the league and
the Red Wings in 4th position.
Jordan Smyth (2), Cian Breathnach, Conor Sweeney, Aidan Morris,
David McElroy, and Ryan Larkin were the scorers for the Maple Leafs.
In the next match, The Blackhawks took on the Bruins. There was
some great play from the Blackhawks, particurlarly Killian O'Connor-Copas
and Stephen McEntee, who both scored a goal each. However, the
Bruins were just too strong on the day, with Eli Haines in great form,
scoring 6 of the 9 goals for them. Niall McEvoy had a hat trick also.
This win takes the Bruins to the top of the table.
A big thank you to Dave Finley (Ref), Andrew Flood (scoreboad),
Sandra Grant (scorekeeper), Dale Copas, Vilnis Ciprikis, Jim Devine and
Trevor Smyth (team mangers) for helping out on Sunday morning.
